Knowledge base
A searchable knowledge base for what you learn on YouTube

4 ways to keep what you learn from YouTube
They differ in whether you can find the idea again three months later.
| Method | Your effort | What you have later |
|---|---|---|
| Watch Later | One click | A list of links. You remember the idea, not which video it was in |
| Notes app (Notion, Obsidian …) | Pause, type, copy the link | Good notes, but only for the few videos you had time to write up |
| Bookmarks and screenshots | A few seconds | Scattered across devices, impossible to search by content |
| MindGem | Paste the link | Summary, key points and sections for every video, searchable by what was said |
How the knowledge base works
- 1
Save a video
Paste a YouTube link, or follow channels and playlists so new videos arrive on their own.
- 2
Keep it organized
Sort videos into collections and sub-collections. Topics and tags are added automatically, and you can write your own notes next to each summary.
- 3
Find it again
Search by title, channel or by what was said in the summary. Narrow the results with “tag:” and “channel:”.
Keep what matters for your goals
Tell MindGem what you want to achieve. It checks whether a video is relevant, explains why and suggests insights and next steps. You decide what gets saved. Available on paid plans, one credit per check.
What the knowledge base cannot do
Good to know before you start collecting.
Search covers the summary, not every word
You search titles, descriptions, channels and summaries. A detail that did not make it into the summary will not be found.
Just for you
Your library is private. There is no shared team library yet.

Questions
How do I build a knowledge base from YouTube videos?+
Summarize the videos you want to keep. Each summary lands in your library, where you can sort, annotate and search it.
Can I search inside YouTube videos?+
You search the titles, descriptions, channel names and AI summaries of your saved videos. So you can find a video by the idea you remember, not only by its title.
How is this different from Watch Later?+
Watch Later only stores links. MindGem stores what each video says, so you can read the key points and search them without watching again.
Can I add my own notes?+
Yes. Every video has a notes field next to its summary.
Who can see my collections and notes?+
Only you. Your collections, notes and goals are not shown to anyone else.
Can I ask questions about a video?+
Yes, with AI chat on paid plans. Each message uses 3 credits.
